What Lead Generation Strategies Work?

With the potential to reach ever more consumers than before through the internet, you need to make sure that your lead generation strategies are on point to make the most of these opportunities.

But the first thing you need to work out is what is going to work best for your business. There is no one-size-fits-all approach that will work for everyone, so take the time to really think about your ideal customers and where you’re most likely to find them.

This is the advice from an article by Black Enterprise , which recently highlighted five top lead generation strategies for you to consider.

Many of them are tried and tested options that are likely to reap rewards if you use them correctly. At the top of the list is the humble press release. In the digital age, it can be easy to overlook traditional press releases and instead focus on creating content through your blog.

But there’s a lot to be said for sending out a well written and informative press release. For a start, they’re a great way to expose more people to your brand and they’re a very cost-effective method for raising awareness of your brand, products and services.

The key to making the most of the opportunities from a press release is to clearly include your website on there, making it easy for journalists to publish it.

Growing your email list is another way of creating leads for your business. As well as making sure that you’re sending out useful and interesting content to those signed up for your mailing list, you need to make it as easy as possible for new people to join.

Make sure there’s a sign up form on your website, and consider linking signing up to a discount on someone’s first purchase, for instance.

If you specifically want to generate more leads and get a greater number of people to sign up to your mailing list, you should consider setting up a landing page for this purpose. This is a page on your site where visitors with a specific interest or purpose are directed.

You could link it to an ad that you run on social media such as Facebook, for instance. The key to an effective landing page is making sure that it has one very clear call to action. You can also encourage them to share your content with their social media followers once they’ve completed the desired action.

Inquirer.net recently stressed the importance of email marketing when it comes to lead generation. One of the best ways to get the most from your email list is to categorise people based on their interests and other niches.

This will allow you to send incredibly targeted messages to them which are likely to be far more effective than simple branded emails. You should also make sure you follow up with them. People remember brands that they see often, so don’t just send them one email a year and expect them to remember you.

In sub-Saharan Africa, an interesting relationship takes place hippos and oxpecker birds (honestly, bear with me on this one). The hippo needs help with the ticks and parasites that live on its skin and the oxpeckers help out by picking off the parasites and eating them. The oxpeckers get what they want – a tasty meal. And the hippo gets cleaner, healthier skin. It’s a win-win situation. It's impossible to say whether either species values the other—but each undoubtedly plays a vital role in the other's wellbeing. This example of mutualism often comes to mind when people talk about the relationship between journalists and PRs. It’s a case of mutuality, without question, but there’s often a simmering animosity between the two. To generate truly effective PR you need to understand the needs of both sides. And that’s where Flourish excels.

Let’s be honest - emojis aren’t just for group chats and Instagram captions anymore. Whether it’s a quick thumbs-up in a Teams chat or a cheeky smile in an email, those tiny icons have found their way into our professional lives. And depending on who you ask, that’s either a welcome shift towards more human connection… or a slippery slope into an unprofessional territory. We live in a world where so much of our communication happens through screens which means our tone of voice can get lost in translation. Emojis offer a way to soften messages, add personality, and make digital interactions feel just a little more, well, human. But here’s the big question: do emojis actually enhance professional communication, or do they risk making us seem less serious, less credible, or even less competent? In this blog, Flourish are diving into both sides of the emoji-in-business debate: the benefits, the backlash, and everything in between. Because love them or hate them, emojis are not going anywhere, and it is probably time we figure out how (and when) to use them wisely.
